Irish Rubik’s Cube Championship 2015

The Irish Rubik’s Cube Championships 2015 marked the return of competing to Ireland. It was well over 3 years at that point since the first and only competition was held in Ireland, it was only the second ever Irish Competition and was the first Championships. Ciarán Beahan won the competition and became the first ever Irish Champion with an average of 10.05 in the finals. Tao Yu placed second with an average of 10.34, and Scott Doyle placed 3rd with an average of 12.31.

There were many success stories from this competition. Ciarán Beahan became the first ever Irish competitor to break a European Record, with a 1:57.70 mo3 on 6×6.

Tao Yu broke the Blindfolded National Record with a single of 51.88, becoming the first Irishman to break the 1 minute barrier.

Oliver Frost broke the 4×4 Blindfolded World Record with a time of 2:02.75, this world record is still standing to this day.

James Hamm broke the fewest moves Irish National Record with a move count of 33

Conor Cronin broke two African Records, Square-1 average with a time of 26.41 and 5×5 average with a time of 1:37.07.
